New Residential Lift CPD | RIBA CPD for Architects

Gartec have created an architect-focused CPD, specifically for those looking to learn more about specification of residential lifts and platform lifts for private residences. This growing market is becoming a mainstay of many self-build and custom build properties. Home owners who renovate or extend their residences are also often keen to discuss and consider home lifts. From future-proofing to accessibility, there is a real shift in the market toward more design-led residential access products. Residential Lift CPD: What Will I Learn?

Our new CPD, called “Platform Lifts for Private Residences”, looks at the detail of platform lifts for private homes instead of alternative home access options.

It offers an introduction to lifting platforms and a look at the relevant regulations and responsibilities for home lifts. Finally, it discusses suitability, and the features and benefits of residential platform lifts. Also, the residential lift CPD looks at how, when and what to discuss with your clients to help them consider access solutions, especially in a self build or custom build property where architects are guiding and supporting clients in design principles.

By the end of our Residential Lift CPD you should have a greater understanding of:

  • Types of residential platform lift
  • How to specify residential platform lifts on your projects
  • Regulations and legal requirements for home access
  • How to guide residential clients through the lifts
  • Features / benefits of residential platform lifts

RIBA Accreditation & Subjects

As our residential platform lift CPD is fully RIBA accredited, architects who are members of the RIBA get double points. This counts towards the total annual requirement in the following core curriculum subjects:

  • Design, construction and technology
  • Legal, regulatory and statutory compliance

How to Access “Platform Lifts for Private Residences”

Our CPD is hosted by the RIBA, and we’ve got two ways to learn to make it easy.

The first option is an office based seminar for your team/company. This is normally a lunch break session, presented by expert home lift managers, Matt Akerman or Bill Cowan. This will take approximately 1 hour and we provide a certificate following the seminar.

The second option is our new video CPD, which allows you to learn in your own time and place. You will also be issued a certificate by the RIBA following the CPD.
