Home Build & Renovate Show Review – NEC

The aisles bustle with people and the air is buzzing with the feeling of excitement as the flagship Home Build & Renovate show began at the NEC, Birmingham, in March. People pour into the hall to stroll the maze of self-build tools, materials, tech and ideas, with over 35,000 visitors coming in over the 4 days of the show.

Innovation was key to standing out at the show – from interesting stand design to creative products and services for home improvements. With a fantastic stand near the front of the hall, the Gartec team spoke to hundreds of people and got to hear some great plans for houses, as well as being in a great spot to see some of the interesting stands – there was a fully built house frame just across from us which looked comfy, but no time to rest…

Gartec’s Top 5 Show Review Moments

  • Obviously the Gartec stand tops the list with a working, fully lit up lift drawing the crowds over 🙂
  • The towering Border Oak stand featured a full house with sofas included (by 5pm these looked rather inviting)
  • We loved the self-build area, which was dishing out advice left, right and centre with some really knowledgeable staff
  • It all got eco-friendly at the Graf Rainwater Harvesting stand, where you could see into cross sections of the products
  • Finally, there was a cat lady strolling the aisles – not quite what we were expecting but made us smile!

Overall HBR was a great opportunity to meet a huge number of people making plans for the future as well as some really interesting suppliers. If you’re looking for shows for inspiration, HBR always provides a great experience all round.
