Beautiful Essex Home Made Wheelchair Accessible

Adapting their family home is Essex, Frankie and her family worked with an OT and architect to create a wheelchair-accessible lower floor living space for their daughter – but they didn’t want to stop there.

“We wanted to make the whole house accessible for our daughter so she could play with her sisters upstairs”

They wanted a lift that would be functional, but also work with the stunning new design of the house.

Gartec Home - Shaws Acre 6000 Home Lift Top Floor

Frankie’s architect recommended Gartec and she chose our 6000 home lift after realising it meant she could create a lift that fit around her home.

The lift space originally went from the hall into a bedroom. Matt Akerman, Home Lift Manager, visited to help with the design – including using the upper landing to make life easier.

“We changed the doors to different sides on each floor so it didn’t open in a bedroom, and the remote buttons are easier to reach”

Installing the lift was simple – our specialist engineers fitted in around the other works and got the lift installed in just 2 days.

“The installers were really friendly and left everything clean and tidy”

The house looks stunning and the white and glass lift works perfectly with the interior design elements.

“We love the lift and it makes the house more fun for our daughter – she loves having her freedom back. We’re getting a second one because it makes things so easy!”

Giving their daughter back her independence has inspired them to get a second lift in their summer house stairwell, just in time for the sunshine.
